250 photos
A total of 250 photographs all taken within about a 3-4 km radius of Wakarusa, Kansas USA with most taken on the property that Suzanne and I (Larry L. Miller) made our home beginning in 1994. Suzanne lost a battle with cancer on 8 March 2020, so since that date it has just been me and the rescue dog that Suzanne and I adopted from the HELPING HANDS HUMANE SOCIETY during February of 2017. As of this writing and the posting of these photographs both Max and I are still living. The photos in the gallery were all taken between 1994 and January of 2025. They represent a lot of things ranging from the life Suzanne and I had together in the Wakarusa area including our part time photography business and some of the many people we interacted with over the years as a part of that business and in so many other ways. Then we have the love we both had for our Natural World and thus photos of wildflowers on our property and other mostly native plants and lots of native wild animals too. Add to that the rescue dogs and cats that were a part of our lives and more photos. Suzanne and I started gardening the first full year we lived at our new home, and thus lots of photos relating to gardening. After Suzanne's death I was not thinking much about gardening, but thanks to a wonderful new neighbor and her young son we have had gardens during he past couple of years and plan to continue. Not only gardens, but Melissa, my new neighbor, is also a bee keeper, so honey too and then add to that she has chickens so fresh eggs. There are so many wonderful people living in the Wakarusa area, and I wish I had photos of all of them to include in this gallery. I do have many, and those from the Wakarusa area viewing the gallery will see plenty of people that they know. Living rather close to Forbes Field there is often some interesting aircraft that fly over the property, and during air shows, Oh what a show we sometimes get from our own yard! Thus the reason for several photos of different types of aircraft. The history of the Wakarusa area including the history that took place on the slightly less than 10 acres that Suzanne and I purchased dates back millions of years. Well for humans not that long, but in the fossil record. Human wise a long time too, and when we took up metal detecting in 2014 we started uncovering some of that history. A few photos in this gallery relate to that history and the metal detecting. Suzanne and I did not spend all of our time on our home property. We traveled a lot and had some wonderful adventures, but looking back I realize that it was here in the Wakarusa area where we had so many of our best times. Thus my reason for limiting this gallery to our past lives around Wakarusa and my present life here. I know I have left things out, but anyone that takes the time to really look at what is in this gallery should better understand how I feel about my 30+ years living in the Wakarusa Valle of Northeast Kansas USA.
