Photos, mostly just as they came from the camera other than reduced in size for this gallery, of the Total Eclipse of the Sun that occurred on Monday 21 August 2017. All photos in this gallery were taken by Larry L. Miller and Suzanne L. Miller of KANAS HERITAGE PHOTOGRAPHY, with the exception of a few that were taken from a Garmin Dash Camera. A few images have been modified for artistic purposes, and since different ones were taken with different cameras and different lenses and filters the colors will vary.
This gallery and individual images from this gallery may be shared via email or by sharing on Facebook. They are not to be modified, but are to be shared as they appear in this gallery. ALSO PLEASE NOTE that this gallery was used for many years to feature photos taken of clients that Suzanne and I worked with over time. They ranged from Senior pictures to family reunions to model portfolio shoots, to special events. We had about 200 photos from those events featured at any one time. We updated from time to time.
HOWEVER, after Suzanne's death I started adding all kinds of photos that in some ways reflected on our lives. Some included old photos from up to a century ago. I have continued to do so, and even though there is really no special order or one might say no rhyme or reason for what is in the gallery these days there actually is to some extent for me.
Except for the very old photos that were taken before either Suzanne or I was born most, very close to all, of the other photos were taken by one of us and that of course includes selfies. Now there are around 1000 photos in this gallery!
NOW FOR THOSE that are attempting to figure out where some of the treasures that I have hidden in Kansas are located I will say this! The EXACT locations of some of them are shown in some of the photos. You only have to figure out which ones! Oh yes, the file names of some of them are also clues.
For now anyway I will say THAT'S ALL FOLKS! however if you continue to come back to this site you will continue to find new things. In some cases those new things just may include photos of YOU and/or other humans you know!

A collection of photos from the September 2013 field trip of the KANSAS HERPETOLOGICAL SOCIETY to the Butler and Greenwood County areas of Kansas. Feel free to comment on these photos and share them with your friends.
REMEMBER that all images are copyright protected. They may be shared as stated above, but they may not be modified in any way.
A collection of images from the April 2010 KHS field trip to Elk County, Kansas.
These images may be viewed individually or as a slide show. You may link this gallery to your website if you desire. Both 4x6 and 6x9 prints that are printed on the highest quality professional photo paper may be ordered directly from this site.
Email wakarusa@mac.com if you have questions or if you would like to order a print size not listed.
A variety of images scanned from old color slides. Most date from the mid-1960's to about 2000. They cover many past events, life styles, and feature many, many individuals.
High resolution digital files of the images may be purchased and downloaded for personal use for $3.00 per image. The money collected will be used to have future old slides scanned and shared at sites like this. I have several thousand more color slides taken during this time frame. These images are just an example.
PLEASE NOTE: That many of the images were taken with older cameras and some of the original color slides have faded over time. Thus, do not expect professional images from many of the images. However, all are capable of making decent hard copy prints as well as looking very good on websites such as Facebook.
THE WATERMARKS WILL NOT SHOW UP ON IMAGES/FILES THAT ARE PURCHASED.
Most photos were taken by Larry L. Miller
NEW IMAGES ADDED FROM TIME TO TIME!
A diversity of images including scanned and restored images from my past as well as experiments with special effects and the making of posters. Add to that a variety of images from different photo shoots that Suzanne and I have conducted along with images from my life in general and you have some of what is in this gallery! They are in no special order, and a very small percentage of the well over 200,000 digital images that I now have on file.
There is no special reason for posting them either other than because of the memories many of them bring back for me. Since I really did not have anything else that I had to do today I decided this would be a good day for memories!
LIFE REALLY IS ONLY AS GOOD AS WE CHOOSE TO MAKE IT!

A collection of photographs related to herpetology and herpetologists. Many of the photos relate to the Kansas Herpetological Society and date from the mid-1970's to the late 1990's with a few more recent images. Many are copies of slides and old prints, so the quality is not always great. Most will, however, make an acceptable standard size print and some will make a good enlargement.
PLEASE look over each image carefully and check the crop before placing your order. Not all images are of standard formats.
Email me at wakarusa@mac.com if you have specific questions about an image.

SOME BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND MORE...
Photos and creations that originated on the property of Larry and Suzanne Miller of Wakarusa, Kansas USA with a very few that originated on neighboring property within a few feet of the Miller property with permission.
When Suzanne and I purchased close to 10 acres just off of SW 97th Street near Wakarusa, Kansas in 1994 and also were married that year our plan was to create a lasting home for ourselves. Also we planted to protect as much of the native plant and animal life as possible and to reestablish much of the land to native prairie. We went to work on those projects even before we actually moved into the house we had moved to the property from Lawrence.
We both had full time jobs with Suzanne working at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library and me working as a full time science teacher.
We were also photographers and I had created a business, KANSAS HERITAGE PHOTOGRAPHY in 1991. We decided to expand that business and in regard to photographing humans to specialize in outdoor photography.
There were many possibilities on our new property ranging from prairie types of shoots to forested areas to Colby Creek for us to utilize. We also started setting up a few unique backgrounds and planting some plants to enhance our photography.
Over the years we photographed dozens (probably hundreds) of individuals, couples, and small groups on our property. We even got involved with photographing both amateur and professional models in 2008 which proved to be a lot of fun. A few of the amateur models we photographed went on to do some serious modeling using photos we helped them create.
Shortly before Suzanne was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 we had decided to close down KANSAS HERITAGE PHOTOGRAPHY and turn our human photography projects mostly into a hobby. Suzanne was diagnosed with cancer during late November 2019 and lost her battle with that horrible disease on 8 March 2020.
With COVID going all out during 2020 photography was not very high on my list of priorities. However, over the past year or so I have started doing more and more photo shoots of which most are with family and friends. It is a hobby now, but I enjoy it. I do not charge, but there are two non-profits that I tell people about when we do a photo shoot just in case they would like to donate in Suzanne's name.
Information about the non-profits can be found at the main KsHeritage.zenfolio.com website or people can contact me via this site if they would like more information.
I get requests for specific types of photographs from time to time and some involve having a human or humans in the photos. I have a few models that Suzanne and I worked with that sometimes help me with these photos. However, many of those we worked with in the past have moved to different parts of the country. Thus, I am looking for a few new individuals that might be interested in becoming subjects in some of the photos that I may be taking in the future.
Also, I just flat out enjoy taking photos and experimenting with new ideas. I now do some photography with a drone, and I have been learning some different software for different types of creative work.
ALL OF THE PHOTOS at this site were either taken on the property Suzanne and I purchased in 1994 or very close by on joining property where I had permission to shoot. Thus the reason for the title "ON LOCATION!" here in the Wakarusa Valley of Northeast Kansas USA.
Wishing everyone the very best, and if you feel so inclined to do so feel free to leave a comment in the guestbook.
LIFE WILL NEVER BE ANY BETTER THAN A PERSON WORKS AND CHOOSES TO MAKE IT!

Well over 500 images dating back at least 70 years! Images of my family, my friends, my past students, my clients, and all kinds of other images that in some way bring back a memory or memories to me when I see them! Most likely if you have known me for more than a few weeks you will find that many of the images spark memories in your mind. Also, very likely that you are in one or more of the images! ENJOY!
Suzanne, Halley, Baxter and I left for the Forgotten Coast of Florida on 24 January 2014. During our adventure we took thousands of photos. A few have been posted at this photo blog. Some information about our trip can be found under the comments.
As we get photos edited we will be posting new photos and creating new galleries. Those galleries will include events we attended, photo shoots we conducted, and lots of just fun stuff we enjoyed between the time we left our home in Wakarusa on 24 January until we returned the evening of 25 February 2014.
Your comments are welcome.
We left for Florida on Sunday, 1 January 2017, and what a great way to start the NEW YEAR!
We will be spending some time working with our friend Dexter and students from Friends University as they explore areas along The Forgotten Coast and do biological research. Hopefully that will include a trip to St. Vincent Island.
After Dexter and his group returns to Wichita we will move on to Apalachicola, Florida where we will spend about a week at a Bed and Breakfast. The link below tells a little about the historic Bed and Breakfast.
(I think you will have to cut and paste the link to get the video to play)

We will be doing at least one photo shoot with a couple that I met while in Florida in 2014, and we will also be spending a lot of time visiting a variety of places, taking more photos, and doing some metal detecting.
Updates will be posted from time to time at this site.
PLEASE DO NOT POST ANYTHING ON FACEBOOK ABOUT THIS TRIP BEFORE WE RETURN LATER IN JANUARY.
